This lovely Victorian locket is beautifully embossed with forget-me-not flowers. I have added white rainbow moonstones for a lovely shaker effect.
Moonstone has been used in jewelry for civilizations. The Romans believed it came from the solidified rays of the moon. Both Romans and Greeks associated it with lunar deities such as Diana, Selene, Trivia and Hecate, the Queen of the Night. Known as the Traveler's Stone, it is especially protective of those who travel by night. Moonstone helps in attuning to the normal rhythms of the biological forces of one's body and to utilize natural energy cycles.
This locket measures 34.6mm in diameter (without the bail). It is fashioned in unmarked but acid tested 9k gold and, along with the gems, weighs approximately 8.3g.
The locket opens by pulling out one of the frames holding the glass on either side of the locket. They are pressure fit - not difficult to remove just, require some coaxing with your fingertips. Due to this, there are a few nibbles/chips along the outer edges of the glass and light scratches commensurate with age and use. I have tried to photograph as best I can - please view all photos. You will receive the pictured locket.
