Regular price $2,750.00 CAD Sale

This elegant c.1880 Victorian pocket watch bearing the engraved initials "VG" was a gift between nobility - from the Countess Fernand de la Ferronnays to her goddaughter, Viane de Gontaut (born June 9, 1864 in Paris, married Cavalry Lieutenant Henri de Fitz-James in 1894 and died November 20, 1902 at Versailles).

Opening the dustcover reveals the inscription, that the watch is numbered 2205 was crafted the prestigious L. Leroy & Cie company, "Watchmaker for the Navy/Palais-Royal, Paris". It features an enamel dial with railway, Roman numerals and stylized hands in yellow gold, with small seconds counter at 6 o' clock and winder at 12 o' clock.  The movement is mechanical with a winding cylinder, and is currently in working order.

This watch is hallmarked twice within with the French horse head mark for 18k gold. It measures approximately 31mm wide and weighs 25.2g. A few scuffs on the crystal and wear commensurate with age and use - it is a wonderful historical piece. You will receive the pictured pocket watch.
