Dormeuse earrings were originally designed to be worn at night - to avoid the piercing of the neck while women were sleeping. This is why they are named “dormeuse” which means "sleeper".
These meticulously crafted dormeuses rendered in late Victorian style were made in Porto, Portugal in the later part of the 20th century in 19.2 karat (.800/1000) rosy yellow gold. Each earring features black paste and is accented with a tapered line of tassels that dance with movement.
Hallmarked for Porto 19k and with maker's mark.
Combined weight of 3.3g, 11.6mm wide x 29mm tall (from top of wire to bottom of longest tassel).
