The style know as "Giardinetti" (meaning "little gardens") includes brooches, pendants, earrings and rings in the shape of branches, bouquets or baskets of flowers. It originated in Italy and spread throughout Europe in the mid 18th Century. The colorful style was created from an array of multi-colored gems. Pieces were often exchanged as love tokens between friends and lovers.
This ring was crafted in the early Victorian era. It features rubies, sapphire, emerald and closed back rose cut diamonds in silver settings on a (tested) 18k gold shank.
