This c.1800 Georgian miniature depicts a sepia painting on ivory of a an urn, a timeless vessel that holds a loved one's ashes and a classic symbol of mourning. An eternal flame burns atop the urn, the "eternal flame", which symbolizes perpetual mourning and that the loved one's memory will never die. A weeping willow tree hangs over the urn, a tree used as a symbol of grief, sorrow and mourning. The initials of the deceased "MHG" are painted across the center of this navette (boat) shaped locket with a bead border.

The pendant is set in 14-15k yellow gold (tested, not marked, as typical of the time) with a convex glass cover. It measures approximately 22.3mm tall (not including hanging portion) by 14.9mm across and weighs approximately 3.1g. The original pin backing has been removed. Wear commensurate with age. You will receive the pictured locket.
