Cauldrons have had a magical significance around the world throughout time. In ancient Ireland, it was believed cauldrons contained an unending supply of knowledge and food. In ancient times, the dead were sacrificed in cauldrons, to be "reborn" the following day. In Greek mythology, the Witch goddess Medea restored people to youth in a magic cauldron. The cauldron has also been related to the Holy Grail by some.
In Welsh medieval lore, the enchantress Ceridwen sought to compensate her son for his lack of beauty. She made a potion in her magical cauldron to grant him the gifts of wisdom and poetic inspiration, also known as "Awen".
The Ceridwen's Cauldron necklace symbolizes rebirth, transformation and inspiration. It features an obsidian cauldron with spirit quartz bubbling out of the top. The cauldron portion measures 1 1/8" tall by 7/8" wide and the entire pendant including the sterling silver cauldron handle is just under 2 1/8" tall. This pendant is constructed in fine and sterling silver. It will come on an italian sterling silver chain length of your choosing. You will receive the pictured necklace.
