This ring in a signet style features a detailed intaglio of a Centurion soldier carved into hematite. A centurion was a military officer who commanded one hundred men in Roman armies. They were heroes to the Roman people, and key figures in one of the most successful militaries of all time.
Centurions served not only as commanders, but they also engaged in combat and were tremendously respected for their bravery, valor, and leadership. Centurions had a large degree of authority over their unit, and were responsible for its training, discipline, and maintenance. They were also the role models for their unit, expected to stay strong and dedicated in the harshest and most impossible of circumstances. With this system, each centurion operated his "centuria" as both an independent unit and as part of the larger operations of the cohort or legion. They were responsible for putting the orders of the legion directly into effect on the battlefield.
In Ancient Rome, Hematite was a popular stone for decorative purposes. Jewelry, weapons, and even armor decorated with hematite were traded widely. It is a stone that helps absorb negative energy and is a "seeker transformer" crystal. Seekers are used when we need some help to find a new path, a new approach, or in any quest to gain that which we desire but do not yet possess.
The intaglio has been set into a 9k yellow gold setting. The front measures 13.7mm tall by 11mm wide. This ring is a size 7.5, weighs 2.9g and is fully hallmarked for London. Wear commensurate with age. You will receive the pictured ring.
