In the Victorian Era, gentleman farmers used selective breeding to create fast-growing, heavy livestock. Plump cows, massive pigs, and large sheep were prized as proof of their owners’ success in breeding. Even Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband, began showing off his prized pigs and cattle. Pigs came to symbolize happiness, prosperity and good luck, thereby popularizing a style of lucky charm.
Similarly, elephants were also regarded as lucky and that they would bless the wearer with health, love, prosperity and progress.
These coral charms are vintage and hang from sterling silver bails.
