People typically think of the heart motif as a symbol of romantic and enduring love. But, it has also often been used to refers to friendship, devotion and affection. Use of the heart shape to represent love was first reported at the end of the Middle Ages. The symbol gained popularity in the 15th and 16th centuries and became widely used in jewelry design throughout the subsequent centuries.
Twin heart gems, set side by side in rings were traditionally given for betrothals in the 1800s.
This ring boasts a beautiful and rare Victorian red glass intaglio, engraved with 2 hearts. I love this ring for the many symbols it can reflect - symbolizing the love between two people, the love between a human and animal friend, or perhaps the love for 2 animals or people in your life; even the love for your past or future self and the person you are today. You can also use it to seal love letters
This red glass intaglio featuring a two hearts has been set in a handmade 18k polished yellow gold setting that fits like a size 5.75, the intaglio itself measuring about 10mm in diameter. It weighs 5.4g. You will receive the pictured ring.
* This ring can be sized up to a maximum size 7.5 for an additional CAD$50 sizing fee.
