The French proverb "La Nuit Porte Conseil" translates to "The Night Brings Counsel" or... "Sleep on it" before making a decision.
This is a wish token made by the Monnaie de Paris in 1968, designed by the artist Liliane Schaefer-Hardy. On the front, a resplendent, highly detailed owl on a branch with the the motto above and signed by the artist below. On the reverse, "voeux les plus vifs", meaning "warmest wishes".
These wish tokens were meant to be exchanged between friends and lovers. Cast in bronze and dipped into 22k gold for a very luxurious look, it has now been set in a generous 10k yellow gold frame.
This large pendant weighs 22.7g and measures 1.25" x 1.25" (without the bail). It is stamped for 10k gold on the bail. The token itself is stamped with "BR" for bronze on its base, which has now been hidden by the gold frame (pic of mark taken before setting). You will receive the pictured charm.
