According to German mythologist Jacob Grimm (editor of the "Grimm's Fairy Tales", Ostarâ, like Eástre, must in heathen religion have denoted a higher being, whose worship was so firmly rooted, that the Christian teachers tolerated the name, and applied it to one of their own grandest anniversaries. Ostara, seems to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing, whose meaning could be easily adapted by the resurrection-day of the Christian's God. Bonfires were lighted at Easter and, according to popular belief, the moment the sun rises on Easter Sunday morning, he gives three joyful leaps, he dances for joy."
The Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and brought with them a tradition of an egg-laying hare called Osterhase. Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs. Eventually, the custom spread across the U.S. and the fabled rabbit’s Easter morning deliveries expanded to include chocolate and other types of candy and gifts, while decorated baskets replaced nests.

This custom Austra Ring is sized 7/7.25 and features a natural Siberian Lavender turquoise cabochon in a fine and sterling silver bezel sitting atop a sterling silver etched floral band.
