For thousands of years, the moon has been a symbol of life rhythms, a cycle perpetually returning to its beginning, of periodical change, a cosmic symbol of growth and renewal, of resurrection and immortality. As a universal measuring gauge, its phases measure the passing of time and were the basis for the first calendars. As it has no light of its own, but reflects the light of the sun, the moon has been regarded by philosophers as a symbol of knowledge acquired through reflection.
The Nocturna moon phase ankle bracelet features natural Damele turquoise from Nevada, its vibrant green color reminiscent of spring.
On sterling silver Italian chain, the anklet measures 9" from end to end, with the fine and sterling silver Moon Phase part measuring approximately 1 1/8" wide and a sterling silver lobster closure.
Two handsawn moons, one waxing, the other waning, flank a full one in the center. It has been oxidized, sanded and polished with elements left darkened and is stamped with my maker's mark umbrella on the reverse. You will receive the pictured anklet.
