Since ancient times, doves have long been symbols of the soul ascending to heaven, and have thus been depicted on tombs and burial monuments. In ancient Greece, doves were associated with the goddess of love, Aphrodite; in Rome, with her Roman equivalent, Venus. In Celtic and Slavic folklore, they represented the peaceful passing of the dead.
This lovely Georgian stickpin features 2 doves (symbolizing love and devotion) atop an unbroken monument (symbolizing eternity), depicted in sepia. A wonderful reminder of love.

The pin measures just under 2.5” long and the navette miniature approximately 18.4mm tall by 8.3mm wide. It has been fashioned in 9k gold and weighs 1.2g. You will receive the pictured stickpin.
