The Greek poet Moschos of the 2nd century bce wrote "Love is naked but hidden" in "Fugitive Love", a poem much imitated during the Renaissance era.  In French, it translates to  "L'amour est nu mais masqué".

This is a wish token made by the Monnaie de Paris c. 1970, designed by the artist Jacques Devigne.  On the front, Eros is depicted as a winged cherub holding a mask, and a bow and arrow. He is wearing a crown wreath, a sign of victory - a cautionary depiction of the sneakiness of love.  On the reverse, "voeux les plus vifs", meaning "warmest wishes".

These wish tokens were meant to be exchanged between friends and lovers. Cast in bronze and dipped into 22k gold for a very luxurious look, it has been set in a generous 10k yellow gold frame.

This large pendant weighs approximately 15.4g and measures 1.25" x 1.25" (without the bail). The token itself is stamped with "BR" for bronze on its base, which is hidden by the gold frame.  You will receive the pictured token.
