Love potions have been used throughout history in many cultures and civilizations. They have been believed to have the power to make people fall in love or to bind two people together and enhance their emotional connections.
In ancient Greece and Rome, love potions were common and often contained mandrake root, which was thought to have aphrodisiac properties. The priests and priestesses of ancient Egypt made love potions from herbs and substances believed to have magical properties and often offered to the gods in rituals for love and fertility. In Medieval Europe, love potions were used by both commoners and nobles. Witches and herbalists crafted theirs using herbs like belladonna and henbane.
... and sometimes, maybe sometimes, it wouldn't be so bad if we tipped the bottle back and had a little taste of it ourselves.
Designed after an antique chemist's bottle I found in a wall during a home reno and crafted in the most luscious 18k yellow gold that looks like pirate booty at the bottom of the ocean, the bottle was hand carved in wax and its enamel label has been hand painted.
Each measures about 7.9mm x 23.4mm without the bail and weighs approximately 8.4-8.6g.
* As every pendant is handmade, each piece will differ slightly, having been individually painted by hand.
* Enamel is glass, therefore, please handle your piece with care to ensure it is not knocked and does not fall onto hard surfaces/ground. Enamel does not fade with exposure to sunlight or daylight but, colours may be altered if exposed to some chemicals and cosmetics. Wipe clean with water or damp cloth.
