Rosemonde Gérard was a French poet and playwright. She is famous for the couplet below from her poem, “Les Vieux” (“The Old Ones”), that she wrote to her husband in 1889. The phrase became celebrated as an expression of ever-growing love when a Lyons jeweler, Alphonse Augis, had the idea of making a "Medaille d’Amour” (Medal Of Love) with the core portion of the verse engraved on it in 1907.

“Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t'aime davantage,
Aujourd'hui plus qu'hier et bien moins que demain.”

(For, you see, each day I love you more,
Today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.)

This pendant is in Italian rather than the original French version. The word “plus” is symbolized by a plus sign (followed by the words "di ieri" for "than yesterday" and “moins” is symbolized by a minus sign set with 3 synthetic rubies (followed by the words "di domani" for "than tomorrow", on a "crepe de chine" textured background. Measures 18.3mm in diameter and weighs 2.7g.

The pendant is stamped "Dep A.A." on the reverse for "Déposé" meaning exclusive, patented design and A.A. for Alphonse Augis. It is also hallmarked 750 for 18k and with the Italian maker's mark for the company UnoAErre.  UnoAErre is an Italian jewelry company founded in 1926 who licensed this design from the Maison Augis.  You will receive the pictured pendant.
