One of France's most iconic landmarks, the Eiffel Tower was designed as the centerpiece of the 1889 World's Fair, meant to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution and to show off France's modern industrial prowess on a world stage. Did you know it was once painted yellow? Made of wrought iron, the tower needs a protective coat to counteract any natural elements. During its official launch, it sported a copper-brown color. But after a decade, its metallic structure was coated in yellow paint instead. From 1968 onwards, the signature “Eiffel Tower Brown” became the official color. Today, "La dame de fer" (tr. the "Iron Lady") has become an enduring symbol of romance.
This beautifully detailed Eiffel Tower pendant has been crafted from 18k gold, measures 21.7mm tall (not including hanging loop) x 10.5mm wide at base and weighs 1.2g. It is hallmarked with the French eagle head hallmark for 18k gold. You will receive the pictured pendant.
