Figa Pendant - 19k gold

Prix régulier Solde

The "Mano Figa" symbol originated in Etruscan italy. The thumb protruding between the pointer finger and middle finger is an obscene gesture, not unlike the middle finger.  "Mano" means hand and "figa" means fig, the latter also being a term for female genitalia (the word also used slangily to mean "cool").  The hand gesture is clearly a reference to heterosexual sex.  During ancient times, the symbol was worn to court fertility and virility.

Today, figas are also worn to protect against the "malocchio" or evil eye.  The lewd gesture is said to distract evil energies and provide protection to its wearer.

Fashioned out of 19k gold, hallmarked and with a black enamel band around its wrist, this figa pendant measures 16.5mm long x 10.1mm thick x 11.2mm tall (without the bail) and 3.1g.  You will received the pictured pendant.
