It's thought that love tokens originated as early as the 13th century. They are coins where one side has been smoothed down and then hand engraved. Sentimental "messages" could include a lover's initials or monogram, name, dates, or an image meant to remind or for luck. They were often bent to create a wave to try to prevent them from being used as currency.
This listing is for the pictured love token - "Ethel" engraved on a silver .05c Edwardian coin. US dime used for scale only. Choose between it claw set into a custom handmade 10k yellow gold pendant (similar to pictured) or coin as is. **There is only one coin available.
