Antique Albert Watch Chain with Seal Fob
Watch chains, once used to carry watches and fobs, are now often used as great chokers and necklaces ideal for layering or adding charms.
This rosy gold antique English Edwardian Albert chain is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1909. It measures 17.5" long, weighs 32.2g along and 47.7g with the T-bar and fob. It is marked on each link and dog clips for 9k gold. Links measure 9.3mm long x 7.9mm. The carnelian intaglio fob is monogrammed "HR/RH". T-bar is hallmarked for 15k. Each dog clip is hallmarked, including with partially obscured maker's mark.
Hallmarking every link demonstrated the owner's commitment to quality and authenticity. The more links hallmarked, the higher the cost as the assay office charged for each mark. Hallmarking every link would have been expensive, making it a significant investment.
