French for “little plank”, planchettes were originally used to facilitate automatic writing. The use of these devices to produce mysterious written messages gave rise to the belief that they fostered communication with spirits. They were very popular in séances during the Victorian era, before they eventually evolved into the simpler, non-writing pointing devices for talking boards. As writing planchettes were popularized during the beginning of the Spiritualism movement of the mid-19th century, planchettes pre-date the popularization of Ouija boards by nearly four decades.
The Great Diviner Ring is made entirely of sterling silver and features a brushed and lightly oxidized planchette 2.5” long and 1.75” wide, with a lightly oxidized wide band hand stamped with stars and moon. Please know your size for a wide band as they fit smaller.
