The French writer Charles Baudelaire gained notoriety with his volume of poetry “Les Fleurs du mal” (The Flowers Of Evil), published in 1857. Themes of sex, death, lesbianism, metamorphosis, depression, urban corruption, lost innocence and alcohol gained him both loyal followers and controversy - the courts prosecuted Baudelaire, his publisher and the book’s printer for offending public morality.

The Scourged Heart necklace features a stunning Tiffany stone heart set in brushed sterling and fine silver on an adjustable 24" sterling silver chain. Between the tag at the nape and the heart, it bears a line from his poem “Causerie” from the controversial volume:

“Ne cherchez plus mon coeur, les bêtes l'ont mangé.”

(Look no more for my heart, the beasts have eaten it.)

The heart measures approximately 1 5/16" at its widest point and 1 1/4" tall, not including the bail. You will receive the pictured necklace.
