The use of baby teeth (or "milk teeth") in jewelry was popularized during the Victorian Era. During a time where infant mortality rates were high, a child surviving long enough to lose his or her first teeth was an event worthy of celebration. Many Victorians, especially mothers, commissioned jewelry pieces with their babies' teeth as a sentimental dedication to their children.
This ring was crafted in 18k yellow gold and features a baby tooth in a bezel setting, surrounded by gold granules. It weighs approximately 0.91g and is a size 8. The bezel face measures 7mm tall by 5.7mm wide. Auction house owl re-mark on the band, noting item imported into France, likely from England. You will receive the pictured ring.
